Overview

Duke Energy’s Hazardous Locations and Intrinsically Safe Equipment was developed based on engineering assessments used to determine the classifications of areas/systems, including those containing bulk cylinder storage, combustible dust, hydrogen, and natural gas (methane).

Through this assessment, it was determined that fixed equipment must be designed and approved for use within these areas.

This course covers the following topics:

  • Identifying Hazardous Locations
  • Class 1 Hazardous Locations
  • Class 2 Hazardous Locations
  • Intrinsic Safety Principles
